Sideburns: is it a thing of the past?

Sideburns and shaving

How can you find out what kind of sideburns work best for your face? Generally speaking men shave their beard starting at the ears and working their way to the chin. That is a great way to find out if a ring beard or mustache looks well on you, but it does not help to find out if sideburns look good on you.
